The ongoing dispute for the Gitxsan First Nation for more than five months is now in the Hand of a BC Supreme court judge.

The Gitxsan Treaty Society has asked the judge to warrant the arrest of band members who have been blockaded the society’s offices in Hazelton since December, despite a court order to remove the protest in April. The Judge reserved his decision on the case and Ian Lawson the lawyer who has been involved with the case says there is no set date in when a decision is made.

“It’s possible that a judgement could come out next week, or two weeks from now, we really don’t know and typically as I said a reserved judgement is usually issued in a couple of months.”
